Welcome to the Church

R.C.I.A. stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and is a process by which one receives the sacraments of initiation after a period of formation through our RCIA catechesis which meets weekly.

A second format called RCIA Inquiry is also available for any inquirer to ask a question about the Catholic faith or how the process unfolds. At various times throughout the year, liturgical rites mark participants’ progress and increasing commitment to the Catholic faith and manifest desire for the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, & Eucharist).

Do You want to Explore the Catholic Faith?

Our RCIA process provides a systematic exposition of the Catholic faith, from the Catechism of the Catholic Church. We meet weekly on Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30 pm. This is a process by which inquirers and candidates are accompanied by catechists and sponsors, on their journey of faith. If you have a question about any Catholic beliefs, a second format is available on Monday nights at 6:30 pm, if you would like more explanation before committing to this journey.

The Process

Whatever your history, we want to know about your unique faith journey, so we can best guide you toward full participation in the sacramental life of the Catholic Church. Set an appointment by contacting the team using the link below.

WEEKLY FAITH FORMATION • R.C.I.A. stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and is a process by which one receives the sacraments of initiation after a period of catechetical instruction, which meets weekly on Tuesday evenings.

APPRENTICESHIP & ACCOMPANIMENT • Those taking part in the R.C.I.A. process are accompanied by catechists and sponsors to assist them on their faith journey. Each R.C.I.A. inquirer either selects a fully initiated adult Catholic as a sponsor or godparent, or we have volunteers that are happy to accompany any inquirer, taking on the role in a one-on-one apprenticeship in the ways of Catholic life as part of the process.

RITES OF PASSAGE • At various times throughout the year, liturgical rites mark participants’ progress and increasing commitment to the Catholic faith and manifest their desire for full participation in the life of the Church.

RCIA FOR Children

For children over 7 years old, the general rule is that at least two years of faith formation be undertaken, at the end of which all sacraments of initiation are received (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist). Christ the King handles these seekers on a case-by-case basis, judging the best pathway forward according to an assessment of the child, his/her prior formation, familial faith journey, and support, etc.
