Christ the King Altar Society

The Christ the King Altar Society was formed when our Christ the King Catholic Church was established in 1941.

Since then, the women of the Altar Society have had the privilege of caring for the sanctuary and the sacristy and keeping our Lord's dwelling beautiful.

In addition, the women of the Altar Society tend to the many needs of the Christ the King community. They welcome newcomers; visit parishioners in nursing homes, hospitals, and homes; minister to bereaved families; and conduct prayer groups, retreats, and other devotions. Through these and many other service engagements, the Altar Society is a vital part of the operation and continuation of the mission of Christ the King Catholic Church.

The women of the Altar Society meet monthly for fellowship-based and inspirational programs, which help extend friendship and camaraderie to the church. The members provide opportunities to the greater Christ the King community for an encounter with the Lord and deeper spiritual devotion through Adoration, recitation of the Rosary, and a weekly prayer chain. Additionally, the Altar Society hosts community-building opportunities for the entire parish through Advent and Lenten retreats, and the Angel Tree at Christmastime.

While honoring our church community, the membership takes time to enjoy neighborly gatherings, including a festive Christmas Tea, joyful Spring Fundraiser and Luncheon, and Spring Membership Tea. The Altar Society also works with the St. Anne’s Society, the Parents’ Association, and the Kingsmen, in hosting donut Sundays throughout the year. The Altar Society committees also have the honor of hosting the Parish Community Sunday in September and the welcoming of new parishioners in January. Celebrating the whole community of Christ the King is not only the mission, but also the privilege of the Altar Society.

We encourage any woman in the Christ the King community to join the Altar Society in our ministry of service and fellowship.
